What Advantages does Inconel Nickel Alloy have?

Earlier, the worsening situation in Ukraine sent gold prices soaring to a two-year high of $2,070 an ounce. According to China Business News, Goldman Sachs raised its gold price forecast in early March, considering Asian buyers' gold consumption demand, investment demand and central bank gold purchase demand continue to rise. Three -, six - and 12-month targets were raised to $2,300, $2,500 and $2,500 an ounce, respectively, from $1,950, $2,050 and $2,150. The last time all three accelerated was in 2010-11 when gold prices rose nearly 70%. 

The World Gold Council has also noted that global gold demand is at its highest level in nearly two years, which is linked to a recovery in consumption and consumer sentiment to combat inflation. 

What is Inconel?

Inconel is a nickel-chromium alloy classified as superalloy for its high-performance qualities and corrosion and oxidation resistance. It performs well in low and high-temperature applications where other materials such as steel and aluminum would fail, and also has the ability to resist pitting, corrosion cracking, and cracking.

Inconel 718- A precipitation-hardened nickel base alloy designed to exhibit unusually high yield, tensile and creep fracture properties at temperatures up to 704°C. 

Inconel X-750- A nickel-chrome alloy for corrosion and oxidation resistance and high strength at temperatures up to 1300 F.

Hastelloy and Inconel are both superalloys with high corrosion resistance and durability.  They cost more than stainless steel, but because of their reliability in harsh environments, nickel alloys are preferred for demanding applications such as geothermal, nuclear, and aerospace.

 

Inconel is a nickel-chromium alloy that forms a passivated oxide layer when heated, making it resistant to extreme heat and corrosion, as well as pressure and oxidation.  Inconel's chemical composition also gives it excellent resistance to sodium chloride over a wide temperature range, making it ideal for Marine applications or applications requiring continuous exposure to salt and brine.

 

Hastelloy is a nickel-molybdenum or nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy, according to the brand, which performs well at high temperatures and is easy to manufacture and form, making it suitable for cold working or welding applications. Because it works well in highly corrosive environments and is resistant to oxidation, Hastelloy is commonly used in chemical processing applications.
